In an interview with interior designer Charlotte Moss, Karl Lagerfeld explained that he never thinks farther than six months ahead: “I prefer the future in terms of fashion, six months, six months, six months. I’m not a fortune-teller.” It took him only a fraction of that time to make Chanel’s last Métiers d’Art collection, he says. “There was not so much time after the ready-to-wear and all the campaigns I photograph. Let’s say two or three weeks. I have no notion of time for this kind of work. I bring a few sketches one day, nothing the next, then I bring some more. Everything is lighter and more improvised than we imagine from the outside.” [WSJ]
