John Galliano has a new lawyer to represent him at his trial in France for allegedly uttering anti-Semitic insults at a couple in a café. Galliano’s longtime lawyer Stephane Zerbib, who was fired once Galliano’s other people discovered “irregularities” in Zerbib’s firm’s handling of the designer’s finances, will be replaced by Aurélien Hamelle from Metzner Associés in Paris. On May 12, a date for the trial is expected to be set. If convicted, Galliano faces up to six months in prison plus a fine of up to about $31,000. [WWD]
