Haider Ackermann has turned down many contracts for design jobs, because he’s holding out for one. “I don’t think one single person knows the house I’m dreaming of,” the shy, critically acclaimed designer told WWD. “Nobody is going to figure it out because it would be a total surprise.” In that case we’d have to guess Target. But seriously, Ackermann does know what it’s like to be on a budget. He attended the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp but left before graduating. “I traveled a lot. I clubbed a lot. I lost myself in the night. Everywhere where night was to be found, I might have been there,” he said.
