Days before its fall 2011 show, John Galliano was dismissed from the house of Christian Dior after a publicity fracas ensued over his anti-semitic public rants. That collection, which was completed by the Dior team, was the last Galliano worked on for the house. The ensuing spring/summer fashion magazines were the last issues to feature Galliano’s Dior work. Some of the most striking pieces featured were from his final couture collection for the label for spring 2011 — the kind of breathtaking, polished, sophisticated designs that showed Galliano at his best, and that will be so deeply missed on the runways while Galliano’s career remains in limbo. In the slideshow, see a few of the designer’s last Dior looks from the spring 2011 season, along with a couple from fall 2011, as they appeared in some of the top fashion magazines. It’s unclear when — and even if (though it’s hard to imagine he won’t make a comeback) — his new designs will be photographed again.
