Roland Mouret Named Creative Director of Robert Clergerie

Roland Mouret, best known for making red-carpet gowns and cocktail dresses under his eponymous London-based label, has been tapped as the new creative director of French shoe brand Robert Clergerie. Mouret’s own women’s and menswear lines will be unaffected by his new position.

Robert Clergerie was bought from its founder, Robert Clergerie the man, by Fung Capital last April (Mr. Clergerie still owns 10 percent of the company and claims to be “delighted” about Mouret coming on board), and it’s now undergoing an ambitious expansion. Since Mouret has previously directed several ad campaigns for the brand, he’s seen as a logical fit. He’ll debut his first collection of shoes and accessories for fall/winter 2012, which will hit stores next summer.
