Who would dare to say a negative thing about Kate Middleton? Kelly Osbourne, that’s who. She does so as a host of Fashion Police, and we suspect what sounds like semi-insults to Kate are Kelly’s attempts at being funny — which, let’s face it, is never going to happen when you have to work next to the master, Joan Rivers, who would never say anything mean about the royals herself since she’s friends with them. On the Tonight Show, Jay Leno asked Kelly what she thought of the duchess’s style, specifically her habit of repeating outfits — even things she wore before she was a royal. “Only in this country they call it a faux pas. In England they’re like, look how thrifty she’s being, showing the British public that the royals are in a recession as well,” Kelly said, despite the fact that Americans also applaud her outfit repeats, just like Brits. “I’m sorry, if I had that job I would only wear it once,” Kelly continued. “If I’m going to be the future bloody queen of England I’m gonna wear that dress once, and that’s it, because I’m giving up the rest of my life, all of my privacy — at least I could wear a new dress every day.” Except part of being the duchess is giving up the rest of your life — including the opportunity to do just that, if that’s what the palace wants.
