The agent representing Valerija Sestic, one of New York Fashion Week’s breakout models this season, admitted to The Wall Street Journal that Sestic is only fifteen. But a spokesperson from Tory Burch says that Sestic’s agency, Women Management, lied that she was 16 to meet the CFDA’s new model age requirement. Women Management president Dejan Markovic has acknowledged her agency’s wrongdoing: “This is never going to happen again from our company. I take full responsibility,” she said. But it’s hard to believe that Sestic or her management have any regrets, given her remarkably successful season: she walked for Prabal Gurung, Oscar de la Renta, Rodarte, Donna Karan, and Marc by Marc Jacobs — and she’s getting lots of work in Milan now. What’s more, she’s probably not the only girl who pulled this off.
