You can tell just by looking at pictures of the new Christian Dior collection, which walked today in Paris, that something is missing. That something — no John Galliano — has had the fashion industry in the throes of anxiety since he was dismissed last season, only heightened by the panned couture collection which was designed by the Dior team, under the direction of Galliano’s right-hand man, Bill Gaytten. The show in Paris today was presented in a sweltering tent, which apparently caused some ladies in the audience not to look their best. While the clothes — including shift dresses, skirt suits, and frothy cocktail gowns in cream, black, and beige — looked a little dull for the label, the model cast was outstanding, as expected. Victoria’s Secret models Karolina Kurkova and Miranda Kerr walked to the delight of model fanatics with Twitter accounts everywhere. Dior face Karlie Kloss closed the show, wearing, well …

A long sheer dress reminiscent of Galliano’s work. At least it ought to have kept her cool.
