Don’t let the curious circumstances surrounding the Missoni for Target collection get you discouraged about the next designer collaboration with Jason Wu, which has just been confirmed. Though the Missoni collection was expected to be in stores for six to eight weeks and sold out within a day, crashing Target’s site and leaving customers wondering if they’ll even get their orders, Wu’s collection will be smaller potatoes. As WWD explains:
Missoni for Target and a previous collaboration, Liberty of London for Target, which bowed in March 2010, were blockbuster launches with products across all categories of the store, 400 for Missoni and 300 Liberty products. Missoni had unprecedented marketing and advertising support, a blog, and a robotic doll that fed the frenzy.
Few details are available on the Wu collection at this time but it sounds like the festivities leading up to his line’s launch will be spared the robotic doll.
