See Custom Jackets by Humberto Leon and Chloë Sevigny

Though high school is thankfully behind us, this fall, the varsity jacket got a grown-up twist from labels like rag & bone and Stella McCartney for the less sporty among us. The Nike Stadium on the Bowery has been offering customized wool and leather Destroyer Jackets since it opened last year — originally drawing mainly athletes and sneaker heads — but the $680 DIY process has attracted a bigger fashion crowd since it was reinstated late last month. Over the course of an hour-long appointment with two Nike designers, clients embellish the classic black leather and wool Destroyer jacket, choosing among 40 patches (called “assets”), and various stitching, laser etching, and font options. We snagged images of nine jackets that have been whipped up by fashion and sports notables, including brand-new designs by Kanye West creative director Virgil Abloh, Opening Ceremony co-founder Humberto Leon (“California or Bust”/”Can I Have This Dance?” above), and more. Check them out in the slideshow.
