The Situation Sues Abercrombie for Trademark Infringement

You may recall Abercrombie’s playful but maybe quasi-serious publicity stunt from this summer, when they offered to pay Mike “The Situation” Sorrentini to stop wearing their clothes on Jersey Shore. Seeing as neon sweatpants are the perfect compliment to orange skin, the Situation kept right on wearing them, and MTV defended his choice to do so. Abercrombie, never a brand to slink off without the final word, then came out with a line of T-shirts that played off the Situation’s catchphrases (they were printed with sayings like “The Fitchuation” and “GTL … You Know The Deal”). Now TMZ reports that the Situation has officially filed a lawsuit against the retailer (in Florida, naturally), claiming that Abercrombie infringed on his trademarks with their T-shirts and marketing gimmicks. He wants at least $4 million in damages, because if they’re going to make fun of him, they should at least pay him for it. Right?
