Now in its third year, the British Fashion Council today announced its nominees for the 2012 BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund prize. On the short list are eight womenswear designers: Jonathan Saunders, Roksanda Ilincic, Mary Katrantzou, Richard Nicoll, Marios Schwab, Peter Pilotto, Meadham Kirchhoff, and Zoe Jordan, as well as shoe designer Nicholas Kirkwood. All nine finalists receive an industry mentor, while the winner — who’ll be announced in the March issue of British Vogue — also receives £200,000. (The fund’s previous two winners are Erdem Moralioglu and Christopher Kane, so the 2012 champ will be in esteemed company, too.)
