Nigel Barker’s Daughter Once Questioned His Baldness

Conversation naturally turned to children at the Baby Buggy gala earlier this week, where Nigel Barker and his wife Cristen recalled their daughter Jasmine’s criticism of Nigel’s hair (or lack thereof). “My daughter’s first sentence was, ‘Dada no hair,’” Nigel said. “And I was, like, ‘No Jasmine, Dada does have hair, Dada just shaves his head.’” Nevertheless, her comment drove Nigel to affirm that he could, indeed, grow hair when he felt like it, so he stopped cutting it for a few months last year to prove his point (his dome has since returned to its original shiny self).

Sometimes, their daughter’s methods of self-expression get out of hand, Cristen added, relating a particularly embarrassing incident at Balthazar. “All the tables are really close together in Balthazar, so she was on my lap, and we were all eating, enjoying our lovely eggs,” Cristen said. “And she reaches over to the table next to us, grabs the person’s poached eggs, and just throws it at her. I was horrified.” The victim was mortified as well. “The lady did not take it well. She didn’t find it cute,” Cristen added. “So, bringing small children to nice restaurants is not a good idea. Ever.”
