Trend-Spotting at the Opening Ceremony Sample Sale
Photo: Jordan Robin and Alexander Iezzi
While the goods may be hit-or-miss, an Opening Ceremony sample sale is guaranteed to bring excellent people-watching — it’s like the Oscars of end-of-season blowouts. Undeterred by the cold temperatures, hundreds of stylish New Yorkers lined up on Wooster Street this past weekend to grab 60 to 90 percent off Alexander Wang, Rodarte, Proenza Schouler, and more. Artful layers were on display, as well as a reckless mixing of prints, and scarves were wrapped in that perfectly undone way that takes at least three tries to get right (nothing with this crowd is accidental, fashion-wise) .
