This very evening, Filene’s Basement will close its doors forever, which means it’s time to start reminiscing. One security guard shared his experience of the store’s liquidation sale with Racked. He reports that some customers grew tearful during the store’s final days, and one guy tried to steal $600 worth of ladies’ clothing, claiming it was for his mom. Meanwhile, a woman bought 30 wedding dresses one day, then came back the next day and bought 35 more.
