Milan Fashion Week has a reputation in the modeling world as the toughest fashion week for newbies to book, so it came as no surprise to see Kasia Struss and Karmen Pedaru — both in their eleventh seasons — open and close several of the city’s biggest shows. Struss scored opening looks at Gucci, Alberta Ferretti, Moschino, and Salvatore Ferragamo, while Pedaru closed at Bottega Veneta, Gucci, and Etro. But in a twist, Milan’s win goes to the breakthrough model of 2012: Kati Nescher. The Russian-born, German-raised Nescher opened both Fendi and Versace, and her closing slot at Raf Simons’s final Jil Sander show cemented her status. See all Milan’s key opening and closing looks in the slideshow ahead.
