The hotly anticipated (well, by some crowds) augmented reality Google glasses will be on sale by the end of 2012, according to the Times’s Bits blog. But what will they look like? Unsurprisingly, probably not that sexy. The blog 9 to 5 Google says they’ll resemble Oakley Thumps: robot-esque sunglasses/MP3 players that preceded Oscar de la Renta’s much more attractive fur earmuff/headphones. Some folks are worried about Google tracking everybody’s eyewear, but if they’re wearing anything that resembles those Thumps, they may be right to protect their anonymity.
