Slideshow: Stefano Tonchi Hosts The Ever Changing Face of Beauty Party Last Night
Last night, W editor-in-chief Stefano Tonchi, in partnership with P&G Prestige, hosted a party to unveil fashion photographer Sølve Sundsbø’s video installation, The Ever Changing Face of Beauty. Shown on massive, 50-foot-tall screens imported from Belgium, the piece explores the consequences of global evolution in beauty.
“The idea here is to play with body parts, and animals and flowers and fashion, and to let the computer kind of combine the sequence,” Tonchi explained. “So it’s a kind of an updating of a surrealist technique that I think is quite funny, as I think we are in a very surrealist season.” As for the vast scale of the installation, Tonchi said, “The idea is to bring to life the pages of the magazine. I think we have the largest pages in the world, so here you go, you have the largest screen in the world. And we needed a space like the Armory to have them. I mean, you can store an airplane in here.”
