• Nicholas Kirkwood’s fall collection features a shoe with a red ponytail coming out of the heel inspired by Florence Welch. “It’s like a Florence and the Machine kind of red,” Kirkwood said. “The thing is, there were about twelve different reds, and I wanted that auburn-y color that she has.” [Fashionista]

MAKEUP

COSMETIC SURGERY

• Earlier this week, a male member of Egypt’s parliament was removed from office for lying about getting a nose job. Anwar Al-Bulkimy of the extreme Islamist Al-Nour party checked in for the elective surgery, but told the public that he had been beaten by masked gunmen. After an outpouring of support, his surgeon called in to a popular TV show to tell the truth. Since his constituents disapprove of vanity procedures, Al-Bulkimy lost his post. [BellaSugar]

SKIN

• A new study shows that 59 percent of people with tattoos are female, with the most common ink being angels and hearts. [Racked]
