The Twelve Biggest Trends from Resort 2013

Compared to the revolving door of designers that marked fall 2012, resort 2013 was a relatively calm but quite beautiful season. Bill Gattyden presented his last collection for Dior, Karl Lagerfeld took over the gardens of Versailles for Chanel, and Stella McCartney decided to stage a carnival. Vivid colors and bold patterns, typical of the season, dominated but designers also took cues from the over-sized proportions from fall and experimented with layering and volume. Peplums, a carry-over from spring, remained a popular trend while neon hues added an unexpected twist to bohemian prints. Baroque detailing evolved into bejeweled necklines while short shorts gave way to longer, but still warm weather friendly, culottes. And since resort is dedicated to the warm weather destinations one jets off to during the dreary winter months, designers offered up a wealth of options for the ever glamorous Palm Beach denizen.
