Street Style From Nairobi
With Maasai plaid being a designer favorite as of late — last year brought us interpretations of the bright print from Louis Vuitton and Thakoon — it’s little surprise that the streets of Nairobi are covered in tartan patterns as well. Our photographer saw it on all of the usual suspects (button-down shirts, scarves, blazers), but it was also used in a few surprising ways, including on pants, cropped jackets, handbags, and even off-the-shoulder tops. Paired with wardrobe basics like jeans or a white T-shirt, the plaid makes a statement without screaming it. Click through our slideshow to see how these Kenyans keep their checks in check, plus a few more local wardrobe additions, including playfully bright socks, graphic tunics, and a perfect paper-bag-waist skirt.
