Beautygram: Natural Women at Narciso Rodriguez

For hairstylist Paul Hanlon’s first time working with the designer, he channeled the nineties, but not in a grungy way. “It’s the classic Narciso woman who looks as if she’s just washed her hair and walked out of the house — there’s a touch of soft movement to it,” he explained. To ensure that the hair didn’t feel too overworked (or “madamlike”), Hanlon brushed and blow-dried the tops of heads, creating a center part, and pulled back pieces to tuck behind the ears. The rest was sectioned off and loosely wrapped around a curling iron barrel, forming a natural-seeming bend. A few spritzes of Spirulina hairspray set it all in place, and then the models were off to the makeup chairs. Right before showtime, Hanlon twirled each girl’s hair using his hands to really give it that loose appeal.
