In 2009, Vice delved deep into the world of photographer Ryoichi “Keroppy” Maeda, who’s chronicled the weird things that some Japanese people do to their own bodies for the last two decades (oh thank god someone’s on that). Maeda even came up with his own procedure, and got all of the underground club kids in Japan to try it: bagelheads. It entails receiving a saline drip into the forehead (for two hours!), then pressing a finger into the middle of it to shape it like a doughy delight. No, uh, carbs involved. Now, the National Geographic Channel’s Taboo, a show known for introducing the world to adult babies and nude weddings, is doing a segment on bagelheads tonight. Watch, and you’ll never be able to look at breakfast the same way.
