This Is What It’s Like to Be Amanda Bynes Right Now

Amanda Bynes has been in the news a lot lately for her behavior, which is at once totally bizarre and terribly familiar. If you’ve followed the sagas of Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan, you know that Bynes’s alleged DUIs and hit-and-runs, random toplessness, and messy car will one day be recognized as the diagnostic criteria for a yet-to-be-invented Starlet’s Psychosis.

But a new, hard-to-watch video obtained by Entertainment Tonight  shows Bynes being subjected to the kind of harassment that would make anyone insane. In it, a paparazzo (unseen, behind the camera) creepily begs her to lower the fur thing she’s hiding her face with, saying he “just wants to show the world that she’s a safe person to talk to.”

“Everybody knows that,” Bynes calmly replies. She offers to pose in exchange for him deleting an earlier shot, saying, “I need to look beautiful” in this really sad, sincere way. Then it kind of devolves, with the photographer complaining that Bynes is assaulting him even though she’s clearly ten feet away. So he can press charges? It’s enough to make one think twice about Lindsay Lohan’s frequent claims of being framed and set up.

In other Bynes news, TMZ reported this morning that the actress has been dropped by her agent, publicist, and entertainment lawyer because she’s gone radio silent, but she won’t need them in New York, where she tells People she’s moving to launch her fashion career.
