Yesterday, the Cut sat down for tea and tiny sandwiches with Alessandra Ambrosio and the 2.5 million dollar “Fantasy Bra” she’ll wear in this year’s Victoria’s Secret fashion show. The model, who gave birth to her second child in May, said she isn’t worried about getting in shape for November’s runway show. But for the Christmas catalog – which hits mailboxes today – it was different story: Ambrosio had to be ready for the shoot just two months after her baby was born. And it wasn’t just a gold-framed, jewel-encrusted bra – it was a diamond belt, too.
“When I found out I was doing the belt I was like, ‘Oh my god. I’m going to have to show my stomach,’” she said. “I really thought [the photo] was going to be this much,” she added, placing her hands below her bust. “You know, like, lots of cleavage, because I was nursing. And then I was like, you know what? I’ll just go for it.” Soon she was demonstrating tricks for flaunting the fantasy bra while feeling flabby: “If you have a little thing here,” she said, indicating a very taut area under the back of her armpit, “you can always hug your body like Marilyn Monroe. It gets voluptuous.” Especially if you happen to be nursing: “Oh my god, are you kidding? I was like four times bigger than normal.” The fantasy bra can scale in size, she explained, which means only one thing: More diamonds.
