Michael Gordon, the 61-year-old former hairstylist who founded hair-care and salon line Bumble and bumble, hid $29.6 million in offshore accounts from the IRS. Gordon sold the company, a backstage mainstay and maker of cult favorite product Surf Spray, to cosmetics powerhouse Estée Lauder back in 2006. According to the New York Post, Gordon claims he didn’t even know that he had to report his earnings from that multi-million-dollar deal. Meanwhile, the IRS’s inside “informant,” who is actually a close friend of Gordon, claims the Brit bragged about his sneaky money-hiding ways. Now he’s sitting in jail, probably wishing he had given his pal more free bottles of Creme de Coco shampoo.
