Ohio Wants to Defund Planned Parenthood Now, Too

So long, good post-election reproductive-rights vibes. Republicans on the Health and Aging Committee of Ohio’s House of Representatives voted to advance a bill yesterday that would redirect federal family-planning funds away from Planned Parenthood. According to the Huffington Post, House Bill 298 could claim $1.7 million of Planned Parenthood funding by putting it at the bottom of a newly created “priority list” for federal funds. If passed, the bill will probably end up stalled in court, as a similar measure in Texas has. The most recent ruling there came down in favor of Planned Parenthood, but the Texas attorney general promises to appeal. November 6 already feels like a very long time ago.
