pull it together

Outfit of the Week: Big, Bold Red

You know the type: She practically coos when clutching a good glass of wine and unabashedly uses words like chewy, unctuous, and velvety to share what’s on her tongue. While her passion might bristle others who don’t share it, it’s guileless and natural to her, similar to her style. Her palate orbits around deep bloodreds, dark navy, rich umbers — she likes her texture and knows how to mix it without losing structure, pairing a leafy chiffon skirt with a chunky wool sweater; hints of chocolate leather; a toasty camel-hair coat or cape, like this one from Tsumori Chisato; and a steel-point toe in a black, licorice-like leather. And while it isn’t exactly the hardest hooch at the party, she gets points for towing a bottle of ZD, a Californian label started by two former aerospace engineers, formulated specifically to hit on all those notes she knows so well.
