Blogger Re-creates Popular Holocaust Fashion Shoot

Three years ago, easyJet had to pull 300,000 copies of its in-flight magazine, which contained an eight-page article called, “A Quick Guide to the Chic Side of Berlin.” In it, models posed between the pillars of the city’s Holocaust Memorial, with text reading: “Berlin may not be a picture-perfect jewel … but it’s a treasure trove for the culture vulture … no visit would be complete without exploring the testaments to the city’s turbulent past, such as … the Jewish Museum and the Holocaust memorial.”

EasyJet apologized, and at the time, Uwe Neumärer, a spokesman for the Foundation for the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, told the Guardian, “We only give permission to projects that have a connection to the memorial, the Holocaust or some aspect of commemoration.” (We’re still not sure how this happened since the Memorial has around-the-clock security.) Anyway, Pelayo Diaz of KateLovesMe.net — apparently not a regular reader of easyJet Traveller — was so moved by the “concrete blocks trying to reach the sky” that he posted photos of himself wearing a Davidelfin biker coat, Céline bag, Balenciaga shoes, and an American Apparel hoodie. The latter, of course, always pairs so well with ignorance.
