Beautygram: Rose-Gold Eyes at Creatures of the Wind

Everyone wants dewy skin these days, but backstage at Creatures of the Wind, it was matte skin that ruled. James Boehmer, director of global artistry for Nars, drew the attention instead toward shimmery, universally flattering rose-gold eye shadow. “Nude colors are usually diffused onto skin, like a wash,” he said of the hue, so he created an exaggerated, look-at-me cat-eye with the brand’s creamy Multiple stick in Maldives, then patted the rose-gold powder shadow — called Nepal — on top. Pale lips were moistened by Nourishing Eye Cream, of all things, and Nars’s clear brow gel (available next fall) gave brows a “sprouty look with a tiny bit of sheen.”

CND’s Roxanne Valinoti’s eighties nails were inspired by the collection’s graphic, bold shapes. “Static energy” (a.k.a. squiggles) in brown, teal, orange, and blue crisscrossed three color-block bases. “There’s youthfulness in the collection, so we kept the nail shape short,” Valinoti said of the sporty manicure, “but the vertical squiggles were deliberate; it makes the nail appear longer.” She used a detail nail brush, but try ultrafine Sharpies to re-create this one at home.

Here are the different polishes used in the three color-block looks:

1. Electric Orange and Impossibly Plush

2. Cityscape and Asphalt (mixed together) and Svelte Suede

3. Studio White and Cityscape
