First Looks: H&M’s Ecofriendly Formalwear Line

H&M’s new ecofriendly formalwear line, Conscious Exclusive, got its big moment when Oscar nominee Helen Hunt wore one of their dresses to the Academy Awards in February. That exact strapless design won’t be available for sale, but eleven other new pieces, plus three men’s suits, will hit stores on April 12 (it’s the line’s second collection). The prices are quite reasonable, particularly since the clothes are vaguely environmentally friendly and resemble nice, wearable versions of several spring collections. (See if you can spot Balenciaga’s black and white contrast ruffles, Valentino’s layered lace, and a strapless top with an asymmetrical hem reminiscent of Dior’s spring show.) Points for the fringe-trimmed men’s jacket, which looks like something a Brant brother would wear if it were at least twenty times more expensive.
