According to WWD, the nine-piece line, priced from $14.99 to $23.99, should be in 800 Kmart stores this June and includes “toning bodysuits, camis, tanks, bustiers, waist-shaping briefs and boyshorts, thigh slimmers, and half and full-slips.” Garments run M to 2X and items with built-in bras contain cups sized from 36C to 38DD and 40D.
Vergara, who signs off on each of her Kmart creations, told the trade, “I’m not really a designer but my lines are based on what I like and what I wear. We have a lot of meetings and all of the product gets tried on by me.” A much better marketing strategy than having a founder with no real need for her own invention (Spanx) or a brand name that sounds like a Ben & Jerry’s flavor (Yummie Tummie).
