The Best Gems of All Time The Empress Eugenie Brooch

The Empress Eugenie Brooch

Once intended to be a garish buckle (featuring over 2,600 diamonds) on an extravagant belt, this gem-dripping ribbon was ultimately tunred into a brooch at Empress Eugenie's request. We gather the Empress felt odd with an ornate ribbon glimmering near her belly, or she just loved it so much, she wanted to pin it onto any one of her outfits, whether they required a belt or not. Allegedly, it was one of her favorite jewels. Today, it resides in the Louvre Museum.
