Exclusive: This Is How Donatella Versace Plans a Party

A Versace Versus “event” will go down tonight around 9:30 p.m. at the Lexington Avenue Armory, where Donatella Versace’s rebirthed, post–Christopher Kane line and the gender-bending designer J.W. Anderson’s one-season capsule collection will be revealed to the public.

Anderson’s capsule collection promises clashing color choices (think electric blue, pink, orange, and yellow), while the label’s reconceptualized core collection seems to have been heavily inspired by the Met Gala’s recent punk theme. As Versace told WWD, her reconceived label’s latest motifs involve safety pins, studs, and black and white.

In the video above, watch the two designers (one seemingly high-strung, one rather relaxed) plan out the event’s structure. Based on the dialogue snippets, we gather that there will be grid formations, plenty of rolling racks, runways, and lights on the runways. Additionally, according to WWD, this evening’s festivities promise to be far more than “a typical fashion show” and involve “great fanfare.” Lady Gaga reportedly produced an exclusive soundtrack for the event, and Dead Sara, Angel Haze, and Grimes will perform, scattered out amongst the clothes.
