Every chain in the world should think about discontinuing their tote bags (Whole Foods? Trader Joe’s?) because it might trigger a previously unexpected tidal wave of brand hysteria. The one case fueling this thought: Home Depot, which, according to Paper Magazine is the latest megachain-turned-“hot” brand infiltrating fashion. The discontinued totes and trademark block-y logos imprinted on tees and jackets have been popping up all over parties and Internet feeds. A long-sleeved racing shirt featuring the “Home Depot” moniker on the back has sold out at VFiles. Buy a painter’s cap or a two-pocket canvas apron while they’re still in stock. The apron can even double as a tote or fanny pack, depending on your preference. And, of course, this trend blossomed in Brooklyn. The Bed-Stuy location of the store apparently has a “hottie situation.” Or, as some people refer to it: Hommes Depot.
