Famed birth-control activist Sandra Fluke is in New York this week, stumping for New York mayoral candidate Christine Quinn. Fluke endorsed Quinn in front of a crisis pregnancy center yesterday, touting the City Council speaker’s lady-vote bona fides, which include regulating crisis pregnancy centers, the decoy women’s health clinics that intercept desperate women seeking abortions with offers of free pregnancy tests and then talk them out of ending their pregnancies. “Whether it was when she passed some of the nation’s first legislation to ensure so-called crisis pregnancy centers were honest with women about their health care options or when she stepped up when women needed protections to gain access to clinics — Chris exemplifies the kind of leadership women in New York need,” Fluke said.
But seriously, those crisis pregnancy crisis centers are the worst. NARAL spies recently went undercover at a state-funded one in Virginia, and were treated to all sorts of reproductive fiction, including that birth control makes you fat and gives you cancer, condoms don’t work against STDs, and abortions cause eating disorders.
