Givenchy Sequined Face Masks Took How Long to Make?

What can you do in twelve hours? You can fly from New York to Japan, watch the entire first season of Homeland (with time for bathroom and/or snack breaks), or listen to the audiobook of To Kill a Mockingbird as read by Sissy Spacek. Or you can sit in a chair and have sequins glued to your face.

Riccardo Tisci’s spring-summer 2014 collection for Givenchy was inspired by Japan and Africa, so naturally a mask that evoked both Kabuki and tribal traditions was in order. To give it that high-fashion dose of fantasy, makeup artist Pat McGrath (also responsible for Dior’s crystal lips) made magic of sequins to create this face mask. And it only took twenty people twelve hours to apply each sparkly creation! The result was a bonkers and hauntingly beautiful face mask that probably took, like, ten minutes to claw off.
