Remember the Iowa Planned Parenthood program that allowed doctors to administer the abortion pill over video conference? For five years it helped rural women get early-term abortions without traveling hundreds of miles (taking off work, saving up for gas and hotel) to one of the state’s disappearing abortion clinics? An independent review deemed it just as safe as in-person abortions and the convenience did not increase the overall number of abortions statewide? On Friday, the Iowa Board of Medicine voted to eliminate it.
