Hanuk’s Bold, Abstract Paintings
Photo: Hanuk Hanuk
He may be best known for wheeling around parties, taking pictures of friends and fashion people in various states of revelry — but Hanuk, a former designer from Seoul, now adds a new line to his résumé: painter.
This week, he opens his first show of paintings at the Line in New York: bold, abstract canvases in bright colors, hung salon-style. The amorphous shapes are, as the artist puts it, meant to “explore issues of repetition and alteration.” The bold works are “conceived as mates,” meant to be viewed in groups and pairs. Click through our slideshow to see pictures of the work and the opening party.
