Gerard Butler, man gifted with unreal abs and a voice like honey, turned 44 years old today. Our favorite things the Scottish native has done as an actor include traipsing about in a loincloth and red cape as King Leonidas in 300, crooning his heart out as the man behind the mask in Phantom of the Opera, and — of course — voicing “Stoick the Vast” in How to Train Your Dragon. For those who weren’t rabid fans of “Gerry” before, a random fact: He was a lawyer before he became an actor. After he was fired from his job, he decided to become an actor — in turn, blessing the world with his rugged features, gruff accent, and toned body. Celebrate his birth by watching him cry out his epic line from 300 below. Or by singing along to the Phantom soundtrack.
