Report: Pedicures Are the New Lunch

The “pedicure powwow” has replaced the power lunch for New York’s leaned-in class, the New York Post reports. Though some might consider taking their shoes off with their boss some kind of workplace hazing, the Post notes that professional women love the group pedi because it is a “far less tedious” networking activity than golf and, crucially, works with all diets. Tribeca’s Sweet Lily Spa has seen a “substantial” rise in business meetings conducted over pedicures. (Manicures make it too hard to check e-mail.) “We have a lot of luxury magazines and advertising agencies based in our neighborhood, and ad reps often bring in their clients to conduct business,” Sweet Lily owner Donna Perillo told the Post. “I mean, how many lunches can you eat?” Oh, just one a day until I die.
