Sheryl Sandberg’s Favorite Shampoo Commercial

Sheryl Sandberg wrote an entire book about the sexist double standards women face in the workplace — men are ambitious but women are bossy, etc. — so it’s no wonder she loved this Pantene Philippines ad. In it, handsome business guys are described as “smooth” and “persuasive,” while less flattering labels loom behind their shiny-haired female counterparts.

Here’s Sandberg’s review, from Facebook (via Time):

“This is one of the most powerful videos I have ever seen illustrating how when women and men do the same things, they are seen in completely different ways. Really worth watching. Lean In prize of the day for sure!”

Here’s the Cut’s disclaimer:

1. If, after two Donnie Darko viewings and one high school talent show, you swore you’d never listen to the slow version of “Mad World” again, watch this video on mute.

2. Shampoo brands definitely won’t fix sexism and might make it worse.
