Lean In: Soon a Major Motion Picture!

Sony Pictures has acquired the film rights to newly minted billionaire Sheryl Sandberg’s manifesto Lean In: Women, Work and the Will to Lead. But not for a Sandberg biopic. (Sadly?) “Rather, [Lean In co-author Nell] Scovell will hatch a narrative film from the themes contained within the book,” Deadline reports. If anyone can make the themes of a corporate feminist self-help book into a snappy, entertaining film, it’s probably Lean In co-writer Nell Scovell, who has also worked on television shows like Awkward, The Simpsons, Murphy Brown, and Sabrina, the Teenage Witch. I’m picturing a Valentine’s Day-style ensemble cast (Anna Kendrick, Kerry Washington, Sandra Bullock), but with well-timed pregnancies and hard-earned raises instead of couplings and decouplings. Sandberg’s proceeds will go to the Lean In foundation.
