Michelle Obama is changing her workout regimen. As the first lady turns 50 (with Oprah, in Hawaii), she’s cutting back on high-impact cardio and weight training in order to focus on balance and flexibility. “I’m seeing myself shift from weight-bearing stuff – even though that continues to be important – and the heavy cardio and running, to things like yoga that will keep me flexible,” she told People in a hard-hitting interview — Botox! Menopause! — on newsstands Friday. But things are still expected to get fairly aerobic at Obama’s no-eating-just-dancing birthday party on Friday. For the record, this all counts as news because working out/dancing— okay, “physical activity“— is the first lady’s signature policy initiative.
