In spite of the prevailing gender stereotype, women now influence 80 percent of all car-buying decisions, the Globe and Mail reports. As a result, car companies are adding new features that cater to, well, more gender stereotypes! The newspaper is sure that women (and men!) will appreciate the Honda Odyssey’s new built-in vacuum and purse holder, as well as the purse compartment under the Jeep Cherokee’s front passenger seat. Then there’s Ford’s new voice-activated text-messaging software: “Technology is a must-have, especially for businesswomen.” My favorite is the power-operated convertible roof. “Save time and your fingernails — no more fiddling with awkward latches to drop the top,” the Globe and Mail gushes. Next do a windshield that will protect our blowouts, Jaguar!
