At last night’s Peter Pilotto for Target launch at Gotham Hall, models rocked wet hair — think “Drunk in Love” Beyoncé — and all the signature prints and colors of British duo Christopher de Vos and Peter Pilotto, the latest designers to collaborate on a capsule collection for Target. “Target came to see our studio about a year ago, and it was kind of a direct yes to work with them,” De Vos told the Cut. And while Pilotto admits that the clothes aren’t quite as luxe as the label’s pricier wear — “Yes, there are limits,” he says — shoppers can count on quality. “We were very strict with the fabric, and Target worked so hard to bring everything together.”
Guests included the social set, fashion bloggers, and a couple of celebs like Diane Kruger and Orange Is the New Black’s Taylor Schilling. Mickey Boardman, who showed up sporting a particularly sparkly cardigan, told us he always loves “a good high-low” and thinks the Target collaborations are brilliant because they allow the normals to shop like the rich. He does caution against bargain hunting and hoarding at samples sales, however. “You have to be careful,” he says. “You don’t want to be known as Sale Tag Sally.”
