Prada Wants to Bestow Literary Fame on You

Last fall, Gary Shteyngart, Jay McInerney, and Jonathan Ames were among the readers at the Prada Journal’s first inaugural literary contest, which asked literary aspirants to respond to the prompt “What are the realities that our eyes give back to us? And how are these realities filtered through lenses?” In good news for all garret-dwellers, a second edition of the contest will be held, with a June 11 deadline.

The contest is a partnership between the house and publishing imprint Giangiacomo Feltrinelli Editore, and the themes — in true bookish fashion — are inspired by the Prada Journal eyewear collection (pictured below). This time, the question is “What are the signs of a changing world? And what situations can we envision? Taking a good look at the details might give us the answer.”

Kind of makes the Amtrak residency pale in comparison. For all the competition details, go to the journal’s site.
