Fragrant Friday: NOVA Fragrance x Anna Sheffield

The scent of heavy metal has been captured before with middling success (see: Guns ‘n’ Roses perfume). But the newest collaboration from fine-jewelry-maker Anna Sheffield and Julia Zangrilli, the perfumer behind the custom fragrance line NOVA, offers metal-inspired scents that people actually want to wear (without eau de tour bus). The two have created three custom body and linen fragrances inspired by the stones, metals, and shapes of signature pieces from Sheffield’s jewelry line.

For avid vintage-jewelry collectors, the Hazeline, inspired by rose gold, oozes a mixture of warm, spicy damask rose and various currants with subtle hints of amber, apple, and patchouli. Bea No. 3, created after Sheffield’s signature Deco-inspired shape, conjures up a yellow-gold diamond with a buttery smell of cream soda and woodsy and citrus undertones. And, staying true to its name, Moonstone echoes the rainbow gemstone with an airy smell of white musk and amber blended with crisp violets and fresh pears. The fragrances will be available at Anna Sheffield’s new Lower East Side shop and online starting today.
