A new study published in the Journal of Applied Psychology has analyzed the findings of 95 previous studies and determined that there is no difference in perceived leadership effectiveness of men and women. Both genders were equally likely to be perceived as effective, competent leaders — though the study notes that there was an assumption in previous studies that people would be biased in favor of male bosses. For a fun note about self-perception though, the scientists write that if self-evaluations are examined, men rate themselves as better leaders than women rate themselves. So don’t be so hard on yourselves, female bosses of the earth, they like you, they really do.
