does anyone know how to date

Why Are So Many People Posing With Tigers on Tinder?

Eeny meeny miney mo, catch a tiger, take a photo with it, and post it on your Tinder pro(file). Or so says a recent Tinder (and Hinge and OkCupid) trend that The Wall Street Journal and Tumblr shrine Tigers of Tinder alerted us to. It appears people, mostly dudes, are posting photos of themselves posing with ferocious jungle cats.

Tigers have long been a kind of totem for sexual prowess and brute aggression. Posing near one lets potential lovers know, Hey, I’m an adventurous guy, but not too adventurous, just, like, enough so I have only one good story about the time I went to India/Thailand/China/San Diego and posed next to a tiger. Or as Millionaire Matchmaker Patti Stanger tells the WSJ, “Guys think, ‘If I can tame a tiger, then I’m worth dating — and I could tame you.’” Also, you know, to paraphrase one guy from the article, chicks dig travel.

Before you go posting that picture from your recent trip to the city zoo, you should know that some users begrudgingly admit that the lure of the wildcat isn’t working as well as it used to. But take heart, Tigers of Tinder: When you meet the broad-minded world citizens who make up the Humanitarians of Tinder, you can swipe right with confidence — they’re probably into it.
